In my previous blog post, I wrote down a list of online shops where one can buy affordable, high-quality Korean sheet masks. For today’s blog post, I will be sharing my honest first hand experience on shopping for sheet masks at one of these local online shops, namely The Cool Mom’s Shop.
The Cool Mom’s Shop offers affordable Korean beauty product at budget-friendly rates. I found out about the shop while scrolling mindlessly at Shopee and hunting for some new sheet masks to try.
The shop has instantly caught my attention because they offer the lowest prices for Korean sheet masks (priced at only PHP 15 each). At first, I had qualms about trying out their sheet masks but after checking all the positive reviews about the shop, I went on and gave them a try.
The Cool Mom’s Shop offers different kinds of sheet masks under this unfamiliar Korean brand Beauty Friends. (What a funny name for a skincare brand) I haven’t heard of this brand before but there were quite a few good reviews on the Internet, so I went ahead and ordered a total of 17 sheet masks in different variants.
I placed my order last November 4 (Friday). The seller shipped out my items four days later. The shipping took a few days, and just on November 14 (Monday) my parcel finally arrived.
I only ordered 17 pieces of assorted sheet masks, but upon receiving them I was surprised to find out that the seller included two more sheet masks as freebies. I love free stuff. Who doesn’t love free stuff?
I gathered some information at the back of their packaging and listed the description of each sheet mask variant.
Snail—includes snail secretion filtrate which help regenerate the skin.
Lemon—includes lemon fruit extracts to soften the skin and heighten skin’s moisture taking capacity.
Green Tea—includes Camellia Sinensis leaf extract which are naturally rich in antioxidants which help protect skin from free radicals.
Cucumber—includes Cucumis Sativus fruit extract to help tighten pores, soften rough skin while it cleanse, moisturizes and hydrates the skin.
Aloe—includes Aloe Barbadensis leaf extract to help moisturize skin.
Pomegranate—includes Punica Gratum fruit extract to help smooth out rough skin.
Raspberry—includes Rubus Coreanus fruit exract which helps to make skin supple.
Tomato—includes Solanum Lycopersicum (tomato) fruit extract which helps to make the skin elastic and rejuvenated.
Coenzyme—includes Coenzyme Q10 which helps to reduce free radical damages, while it cleanse and moisturizes the skin.
Red Ginseng—includes Red Ginseng which gives out natural fragrance and tighten pores.
Cereal—includes Oryza Sativa (Rice Bran) extract to help keep the skin supple.
Royal Jelly—contains royal jelly which helps to make the skin healthy-looking and elastic.
Pearl—includes pearl which helps to prevent the formation of melanin.
4 out of 5 stars
What I like:
- The seller is thoughtful and very friendly.
- They offer affordable Korean sheet masks.
- They provide easy and hassle-free shopping.
What I don’t like:
It takes a while for the items to be delivered.
Will I buy from them again?
Probably at some point. There was an updated minimum shopping requirement policy at Shopee where the Cool Mom’s Shop sells her products. I find this new policy quite inconvenient, so I might not be able to purchase from the shop any time soon.
Will I recommend them?
Yes. I recommend them to those who are looking for affordable Korean sheet masks and to those who are willing to put up with Shopee’s new shopping policy.
REVIEW UPDATE as of December 2016
I am going to use these sheet masks for seven days in a row and post my review of each of them below.
20 December: It is with a heavy heart that I am posting this review. I tried the Potato variant last night and it was just awful! It smelled very harshly, almost like the smell of lambanog mixed with other strong chemicals. I still tried to put it on my face but I really couldn’t stand the smell so I threw it away. I opened the Green Tea in hopes that only the Potato is the bad-smelling one among the variants, but the Green Tea was just as bad. Also, the essence in the pack came off rather watery instead of the gel-like, concentrated consistency. *cries*

21 December: I tried the Royal Jelly variant. Although it didn’t smell so bad, there was still a faint unpleasant scent to it, but not as overpowering as the Potato and Green Tea. I was able to put it on my face for 30 mins. The consistency of the essence was also watery. It was a bit moisturizing but nothing really special, it was just okay.

22 December: I tried the Aloe variant this time, and thankfully it was a little bit better compared to the other variants I have tried so far. It has a mild refreshing scent to it, which quickly dissipates about a few minutes after I put the sheet mask on. The essence is just a little bit thicker compared to the other variants, but still a little too watery for my liking.

23 December: I tried the Cucumber variant this time, and it felt so much like the Aloe variant although this one smells better. The essence still came off as watery. I noticed that there wasn’t much essence left at all in the pack. Also, the fit of the mask wasn’t very good as it kept slipping off of my face. But I think it’s still wearable, only if you have the patience to keep up with it. I have yet to be impressed with the moisturizing benefit of this sheet mask, ’cause it has been pretty average on that department so far.

24 December: I was able to do my sheet mask challenge for only 5 straight days. Aside from getting bored and unimpressed with the performance of these Beauty Friends sheet masks, I also developed tiny blisters and rashes so I had to put the challenge to a complete halt. Here is the review on the last of the 5 sheet masks I have tested out.
I tried the Cereal variant this time and I was bothered by the scent. It smelled like roasted grains. Although it wasn’t really too overpowering, I couldn’t ignore the weird smell and ended up taking off the sheet mask away just after 10 mins of use. Once again, the essence is too watery and there wasn’t much moisturizing effect.

Final thoughts: I was a bit disappointed with these sheet masks because I was expecting them to work well after reading a lot of great reviews online. But then again, what works better for others might not work for me, and such is the case with these Beauty Friends sheet masks.
