Beauty Review: IOPE Moistgen Skin Hydration Sample Set

Hello everyone! Today, I am going to share my thoughts on these sample-sized skincare babies from IOPE’s Moistgen Skin Hydration line.

For those who are unfamiliar with the brand, IOPE is a high-end Korean beauty brand under Amore Pacific which is the same corporation that operates Laneige, Etude House, Innisfree, among others. According to the brand’s philosophy, IOPE’s products are infused with only the highest quality of enriched herbal extracts using the latest, cutting-edge scientific technology.

iope moistgen skin hydration sample set review 01

The IOPE Moistgen Skin Hydration Sample Set consists of a skin softener, a serum, an emulsion, a moisturizing cream and an eye cream, all of which are packed in cute, travel-sized containers. The final item, which is the eye cream, is missing from the picture because I accidentally threw it away after I used it all up. Talk about #bloggerproblems haha.

Let’s head over to the review.

IOPE Moistgen Softener

Unlike most alcohol-based toners, this softener has a slightly thick texture and a slightly watery consistency. You can tell from the texture that it is thicker and heavier than most toners. It has a very strong and expensive-smelling perfume-y scent which I am not particularly fond of. It leaves a slightly sticky feeling upon application and it takes about a minute or two for the entire layer to sink into my skin. As for the performance, it is not drying or stripping at all and it delivers just the right amount of hydration to my skin.

4 out of 5 stars

Will I repurchase?
I actually prefer very light and runny toners but maybe I’ll consider getting this for when my skin needs that extra boost in the moisture department.

Will I recommend?
I definitely recommend this to those who have dry skin and are looking for a good toner that doesn’t dry out the skin.

IOPE Moistgen Serum

This serum has a thick and stringy consistency, very much like the typical Korean snail cream. It has a very strong fragrance that lingers in the air like the ghost of your beloved ex-boyfriend. (Wait, what?) Depending on the amount of your application, it leaves a slightly sticky to terribly sticky feeling on the face. Based on my trial, a thin layer of this serum takes at least five minutes to completely dry on the face.

2 out of 5 stars

Will I repurchase?
No, I’ll pass up on this one. Who likes thick and sticky serums, anyway?

Will I recommend?
Unless you have Sahara-level dry skin and have the time to wait up for more than a minute for your serum to dry, then this product is for you. Otherwise, go chase other lighter skincare serums.

IOPE Moistgen Emulsion

This emulsion is only a wee bit thinner than the serum but is still very much thick and stringy for an emulsion, IMHO. Because of its consistency and texture, it is quite a struggle to get the product out of that small bottle. Just like the softener and the serum, this emulsion also reeks very strongly of that same signature perfume-y scent. It also takes a while for it to be absorbed by the skin.

2 out of 5 stars

Will I repurchase?
No, I’ll pass up on this one too.

Will I recommend?
I only recommend this to those who badly need to moisturize their extremely dry skin. Even though it was sticky, the product does fulfill its role of delivering hydration and moisture to skin.

IOPE Moistgen Cream

This moisturizing cream is probably one of the thickest creams I have ever encountered in my life, and I am not even exaggerating. The cream has a very thick and stringy formulation which reminds me once again of the consistency of Korean snail creams multiplied to the power of three. It is so thick that only a tiny amount was enough to cover my entire face. It has the same strong scent and leaves a very heavy film on the face.

1 out of 5 stars

Will I repurchase?
I won’t repurchase as the heavy scent and the heavy feeling are more than enough to turn me off.

Will I recommend?
This is the only product among the line that I am not confident to recommend to anyone. It feels heavy and sticky and it is not very comfortable to use at all.

IOPE Moistgen Eye Cream

Out of all the products from this line, this one is my favorite. This eye cream has a slightly thick consistency but not too thick to be as bothersome as the emulsion and the face cream. I am fairly impressed with the performance of this eye cream especially in terms of moisturizing and nourishing my eye area. It also makes my under-eye less puffy.

5 out of 5 stars

Will I repurchase?
Yes. I am thankful to come across an eye cream that actually works.

Will I recommend?
Yes. I recommend this eye cream to anyone who are looking for an effective eye cream that delivers impressive moisture and hydration to the eye area.

    1. Yeah I was actually expecting the sample kit to blow me away ’cause I’ve read great things about IOPE but I guess this isn’t one of the best ones. But still glad I got this for free and didn’t have to shell out cash just to try this crap and be disappointed.
